Tears For Fears wrote it back in the day, as a much more uptempo song. Gary Jules eventually adapted it and it was picked up for the "Gears of War" TV ad campaign which propelled it to new heights.
This is essentially the same version except that I played the instruments and changed the arrangement slightly near the end.
