ABOUT:
Hi! I'm back.

It's been a few years, and I don't expect to be remembered.

Anyway, this video is a reaction to two things, 1) The call to make more good, Catholic media, and 2) the secular world, which is often at odds with Christ.

This is a music video. The song is "Behind Me and Before Me" by the Saint Louis Jesuits, from their album "Morning Light", released in 2005 (their oldest album is "Neither Silver Nor Gold" from 1974, so they're something of veterans of contemporary Catholic music).

So why, after all this time, did I pour a whole day into it? I think, for one thing, to demonstrate to myself, if no one else, that it's possible to make media that is both Christ-centered and tasteful - that culture doesn't necessarily entail even the lightest of swears, the least immodesty, or even violence. The soul can oft be far more interesting. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately corrupt; who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9, RSV)

I originally intended for the video to match the song. I think it has a story now, though.

The story is this:

A Catholic priest comes to know the Holy Spirit and builds a love (a personal relationship, if you like) with God. And the Holy Spirit is with him every step of his life.

One day a nearby city is bombed. the priest goes to it and finds the body of a poor man. He weeps that no man bothered to take care of this poor soul, and carries the body to bury it.

The priest weeps bitterly in compassion for the man's life and that no one cared for his earthly remains. The Holy Spirit then reminds the priest how God makes every man in his mother's womb, and that God gives all men a purpose, and not one dies without fulfilling it.

This consoles the priest, and his heart is set free with the wondrous love of God, knowing that God has worked through him in giving the poor man his burial. The priest then goes in contentment to worship the Lord in his church.

I hope it makes sense, and that you enjoy the music, even if you are not Christian.

Peace be with you and all yours. I am praying for all of you.

God bless you,
